The production method of seamless steel pipe is roughly divided into inclined rolling method (Monesmann method) and extrusion method. The inclined rolling method (Monesmann method) is to punch the tube with an inclined roll and then extend it with a rolling mill. This method has fast production speed, but the workability requirement of the pipe billet is high, mainly suitable for the production of carbon steel and low alloy steel pipe.

The production of seamless steel pipes is a complex and delicate process that begins with high-quality billets. First, the billet is heated to the appropriate temperature through the heating furnace, so that it has enough plasticity and toughness for subsequent processing. Subsequently, the heated billets are fed into the punch and the preliminary hollow blanks is formed through the strong extrusion of the roll. This step is the key to forming a seamless steel pipe, which ensures that there is no weld inside the steel pipe, thus improving the overall strength and sealing of the steel pipe.

After perforating, the pipe billet also needs to go through multiple hot rolling or cold rolling processes to further adjust the size accuracy and surface quality of the steel pipe. During hot rolling, steel pipe is repeatedly rolled at high temperature to gradually reach the required diameter and wall thickness, while cold rolling is performed at room temperature to improve the hardness and surface finish of steel pipe through cold deformation. In addition, some seamless steel pipes for special use need to be pickling, annealing, straightening, flaw detection and other subsequent treatment to ensure that their performance meets the design requirements.
