If you’re here, you likely already heard of Emsculpt, which is a non-invasive body contouring treatment, but are wondering… does Emsculpt really work?! I’ve done six Emsculpt sessions and it has been three months since my last session and six months since my first session- so I’m ready to give you a full, in depth and honest Emsculpt review!
I do not work for a cosmetic surgery office or spa that offers Emsculpt, I am just someone who did the treatments for myself. Most “reviews” you will find online are people trying to sell you an Emsculpt package… I’m not. I’m not trying to sway you one way or another, I’m just telling you the truth.
In my opinion, no. Unless you get a really good deal, I did not find it to be worth the cost. I did it because a friend did it on me for free. But, she told me that the Emsculpt procedure I did would cost $1,500 per treatment area. I did my abs and butt, so it would have been $3,000 for the package I did (in Chicago).
That’s $3,000 for six sessions on each muscle group. Each treated area gets a 30-minute session.
My sessions ended up being an hour and a half each because I did 45 minutes per area and had to do one area at a time.
The results were just not worth that price tag to me.
I first tried Emsculpt in 2019… so it’s been three years since I first tried it. I can say the results are completely gone by now. Honestly, they were gone after a year- probably less.
It’s just like exercise, you have to maintain it. You can go to the gym for a year and have great results, but if you stop- the results are going to disappear.
So, by that same logic, once you stop doing emsculpt treatments… you’re results wont be so defined. They slowly start to fade. And since it’s impossible to do that many sit ups or squats on your own, you can’t possibly maintain those exact results for long without being on a pretty big calorie deficit.
Of course, individual results vary especially depending on your body’s muscle building tendencies. That’s the best way I can word it.
Emsculpt uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to trigger what’s called supramaximal contractions or supramaximal muscle contractions (the kind that cannot be achieved by voluntary muscle action). In just 30 minutes, it triggers 20,000 muscle contractions. So think 20,000 intense squats or sit ups from just laying there for 30 minutes.
It’s cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for the “improvement of abdominal tone, strengthening of the abdominal muscles, development of firmer abdomen, and strengthening, toning, firming of the buttocks.”
Emsculpt builds muscle fibers (by roughly 16 percent) for more defined abs and rounder rear-ends and also helps with fat reduction the way exercise does.
Yes, it does work. I did see an increase in muscle mass and a some fat loss.
I actually stopped working out about two weeks in to doing Emsculpt, so results I seen were definitely from Emsculpt.
(Keep in mind that I have also been eating very well.)
When I started Emsculpt, my body fat percentage was 34%, three months after completing my Emsculpt treatment plan my body fat was down to 30%.
Waist: 33 inches
Lower Abdomen: 46 inches
Hips/Butt: 47 inches
Waist: 28 inches
Lower Abdomen: 32 inches
Hips/Butt: 43 inches
So, total I lost 23 inches in the treated areas! Also, keep in mind, you can keep seeing results for up to a year. I, personally, did not continue seeing more results but that is what the professionals say.
I did enjoy the new muscle tone, however, if you do not continue working out intensely and eating well… you’re going to lose the results within six months.
So when considering it, also consider if you will keep up with an exercise routine and a healthy diet that will help you maintain those results.
Some people also go in for maintenance treatments every few months… but that’s costly, so also consider that.
Emsculpt is not painful at all. The butt actually felt like a massage to me lol. I literally just laid there. It kind of felt like having your butt gently spanked (sorry, that’s the best way I can describe it!)
The abs are a little uncomfortable, though. But it is still very tolerable. It also gets easier every session as you adjust to it. The abs feel more like a pulling sensation.
There is no downtime, but you will be really sore the next day. Remember, it is a very high intensity 30-minute treatment (per area). I mean, imagine doing 20,000 sit ups in 30 minutes… of course you’re going to be sore, just like an intense workout!
I wouldn’t say there is any recovery time, though. It’s just regular soreness.
I can’t tell you about any clinical studies because I’m not a medical professional, but this has been my experience as a real patient receiving treatment sessions for my own personal wants and not for marketing :).
Pricing changes so often, that I would just recommend getting a complimentary consultation. Good candidates have the best results, so it’s important to have a consultation and see if you’re a good candidate to begin with.
I’ve heard of it priced from anywhere from $1,500 – $5,000 for a package. Some people would prefer to just see a plastic surgeon, others prefer this because it’s non-invasive.
Xoxo,
Jessica

“I had the EmSculpt done and it was so EASY! I am not the one to work out so this treatment was perfect for me. I am two weeks out since my last treatment and I am already noticing a difference in my abodmen.”

“Comfortable, Painless. I just finished my 4th Emsculpt treatment and I am blown away with the results. My stomach was relatively flat but even after working out for the last 7 years consistently 4x a week I have never been able to get a 6 pack until now I have an 8 pack and it’s not just when I’m flexing in the right lighting like in the past. I definity would recommend this treatment to anyone looking for Body Sculpting.”

“Getting my first treatment for emsculpt was AWESOME! I was a little nervous about how it would feel but Lauren was very calming. She explained everything about what it feels like down to how it benefits you. I wanted to have a butt lift, so that’s where I chose to have my emsculpt done. It did not hurt at all and after a while you could almost fall asleep, who needs to workout when you can sleep and do emsculpt?”

“Emsculpt is the answer people!! If you want your abs to be toned and tighter and already work on them this is the last machine you will need. I exercise daily and emsculpt has given me that extra toned abdomen I have been looking for.”
– Jill1218 on RealSelf.com
“The Emsculpt procedure experience was painless, effortless and EASY!
The EASE and comfort of laying down while your body is “sculpted” is AMAZING!”

“I tried the Emsculpt electromagnetic muscle stimulation/contraction machine. I was skeptical at first, but it really is pretty intense and worked my abs like never before. My abs felt great, nice and tight, for a few days afterwards. Not extremely sore, but felt like I had an excellent workout. I was actually pretty amazed at the whole procedure.”

“Even though I am only half way through my treatments I am so happy with my results so far! I have had 3 children, with my youngest being 21 months and I finally feel like I’m am getting my body back!!”
– Pro3MOM on RealSelf.com
“It’s not magic, but it did go a long way to helping me get look (and feel) better….It’s been two months since the procedures and I definitely look like I have a tighter butt and abdomen. I do see less fat and feel like I have more defined buns and stomach. I continue to exercise and to eat right. I do have my cheat days, but the best way to maintain the look of Emsculpt treatments is to keep working at it.”

“I have done both Vanquish and CoolSculpting to get rid of the extra fat on my stomach and have been very happy with the results, however I have never experienced anything like Emsculpt. It was amazing to me how much more toned my abs got than I had been able to accomplish in the gym. I am 51 years old and its a lot harder to tone up than it use to be. I did 4 treatments, (2 treatments a week for 2 weeks in a row). The picture was taken a few days or maybe a week after my 4th treatment. I really want to do more of these and see how good my stomach can get.”
– batman77 on RealSelf.com
“After my 4 sessions I felt a little hooked and was somewhat sad that my time with the machine was over. However, the doctor told me that in 3-6 months I was welcome to come back for a refresher and to maintain the results that I could never seem to achieve at the gym. About 4 weeks after the last session my husband snuck a peak of me getting out of the shower and said, “hey, you lose weight?” I smiled, and said, “No, I did 80,000 sit-ups at the dermatologist’s office last month in 2 hours…try and beat that!” ”
-AvaMarie on Zwivel.com
“Ever since having my son who is now 7.. I have always struggled with my stomach. I am fit, work out religiously, and eat properly but my stomach always stuck out more which made me look pregnant… After a few sessions, I noticed my stomach didn’t stick out as much as it used to. The inches started to show in my clothes which helped me gain back my confidence. I am so happy because my pre-baby body is back!”
– NYCM on RealSelf.com
“The treatment was extremely positive. The procedure was painless and actually somewhat relaxing. The pulsating of the machine felt as if it were truly pulling on the muscles, without being painful. The results were noticeable quickly with tighter feeling and appearing buttocks. Definitely worth it!”
– Lincon71 on RealSelf.com
“I’ve been in the fitness & nutrition industry for 20 years now and I have tried everything to get my butt to have shape and size like I always have wanted. I have tried every exercise known to man & never have seen results like what I got from this procedure in my life. It was worth every penny I paid and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have so much more confidence now and just feel good about myself.”
